OVERVIEW
The Queen Mothers’ Foundation of Ghana is a member based Non Profit made up of Queen Mothers from all over Ghana. The foundation was set up 16 years ago to vigorously champion the empowerment of women, pursue human right and justice, create social and environmental change, promote growth through the projection of cultural and traditional values and generally run programs to alleviate the plight of the under privilege in the society.
The Queen Mothers’ Foundation of Ghana primarily operates within Ghana and operates on the principle of the growth and development of Ghana through proper cultural practices, effective harnessing of resources and collaboration with stakeholders both local and international to meet the growing and changing demands of society and the world at large.
Since its inception, our Foundation has undertaken a number health based and developmental projects, training programmes and advocacy campaigns around the country as well as cultural exchanges geared towards achieving our vision.
Our foundation’s operations cover a wide range of areas from sanitation, employment, health, skills development, mentorship and a host of other sectors that affect the lives of women, children and the under privileged.
Vision
Our vision is to ensure the continuous improvement in the reestablishment of traditional values in creating a culture of respect, oneness and the reawakening of women’s empowerment aimed at improving the lives of especially women through the preservation of our cultural values as a people.
Mission
We seek to advocate for developmental projects and collaborate with stakeholders in providing skill based training for women.
HISTORY
The Queen Mothers’ Foundation of Ghana started as an informal club of queen mothers with compassion to initially foster stronger unity amongst queen mother all over Ghana and also to give back to society and help improve the lives of the under privileged.
The foundation started with few members who met occasionally at the residence of Nana Serwa Bonsu in Dzorwulu, Accra. With newer members the foundation gained momemtum and moved its large membership to the GBC club house, flagstaff house in august 2008.
The foundation has moved around over the years but has Found its root at the flagstaff house which has been its permanent meeting grounds till date.
